In 2006, the County of Lake adopted a series of EMB-related amendments to
its sign regulations. The amendments allow off-premises EMBs subject to
certain size and locational restrictions. Operational requirements address
the intensity of the display, frequency/duration of message and other
related matters. The County has not adopted an amortization schedule for
signage or other nonconforming structures. An online version of the County's
sign regulations can be viewed and downloaded from

http://www.co.lake.il.us/planning/udo/udodocs.asp. (Refer to Article 9,
Section 9.9).

Subject: [ApaIllinois] ILAPA Forum Question: Electronic Message Unit/LED
Sign Regulations

Does your municipality allow Electronic Message Units/Led as
billboards/off-premise signs? If so, what are the regulations?
Specifically, how often can the message change? Do other billboards have to
be taken down if the EMU billboard is allowed and how many must come down?
Where are they allowed within the municipality?

Thanks for your help.
