ATTENTION ILLINOIS PLANNERS, ARCHITECTS, AND CITIZENS!

THERE IS ONLY TWO MORE WEEKS FOR EARLY REGISTRATION AND HOTEL RATES FOR THE 2007 APA-IL STATE CONFERENCE! The Conference is taking place in Peoria , IL from October 10 – 12, 2007.

This year’s conference will be held jointly with the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and accordingly has a green theme with great sessions for Planning, Building, and Sustaining Illinois communities. The conference will feature nearly 30 different topics and 3 mobile workshops all designed to illustrate the great local planning efforts happening in states. The 3 mobile workshops include:

Mobile Workshop 1
HEART OF PEORIA TOUR

A tour of the Heart of Peoria Plan Area, including its form districts.

Mobile Workshop 2
RENAISANNCE PARK

Tour Renaissance Park - a planned redevelopment of Main Street into a pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use commercial neighborhood. Tour participants will also visit the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center , a new high technology incubator building where entrepreneurs pursue their ideas, receive expert mentoring, enhance skills, create business strategies and acquire venture funding.

Mobile Workshop 3
PEORIA RIVERFRONT

This walking tour will visit O’Brien Field, home of the Chicago Cubs Class ‘A’ affiliate and will also visit the newly created Warehouse District. O’Brien Field is the premier minor league baseball stadium in the United States and an excellent example of a public/private partnership used to complete a substantial urban redevelopment project. The Warehouse District is a recently designated tax increment finance district and proposed redevelopment area immediately adjacent to Peoria ’s Riverfront and Downtown.

The full program and registration is available at www.ilapa.org/conf2007.html. Feel free to spread the word in your office with the attached office flyer. Information about Sponsorship, Resort and Accommodations, and Peoria can also be found on the conference website. Do not miss this excellent opportunity to meet with your peers and learn about the various planning trends that are occurring in Illinois !
