Plan of
Chicago. Mobile workshops will fan out around the city and across the region
to visit the best of Chicago-area planning. Plenary sessions will examine
Burnham’s legacy in the development of a Midwestern metropolis. Sponsored by
the Illinois Chapter of the APA and Landmarks Illinois, this conference
integrates with the Burnham Plan Centennial celebration to focus on 100
years of the Chicago region’s planning history and what it means to the
future of the profession.
A primary objective of the conference planning committee is to make
mobile workshops the backbone of the program. Therefore we are asking you to
“think out-of-the-box”, or more like “think-out-on-the-street”. What mobile
workshops can you assemble that will get planners a first-hand look in and
around downtown Chicago and the region and meet the parameters defined
below:
Planning categories:
Planning History and Historic Preservation
Regional Planning
Open Space/Recreation/Environmental Planning
Transportation Planning
Form-based Coding, Urban Design, and Context-Sensitive Solutions
Social Planning Issues
Workshop requirements can be found on
the 2009 Conference Website. For any additional questions regarding workshop
sessions contact:
Paul Bednar, AICP or
Jane Tompkins, AICP
