There’s no better way to learn than through direct experience, which is
what MOBILE WORKSHOPS are all about! Be sure to take advantage of
these mobile workshops, a surefire way to elevate your conference
experience:
Cultivating Future Planners: Conducting a Mini Planning Charrette
with 6th Grade Students - Help introduce the planning profession to
6th graders at a local junior high school with an interactive, 3-D
modeling program! The teachers and principal are very excited that we will
be bringing such an experience to their students. Unfortunately, we only
have TWO PEOPLE registered at this time. For AICP members, recall
that part of your professional responsibility (AICP Code of Ethics Sec.
3(j)) is to “contribute to the development of, and respect for, our
profession by improving knowledge and techniques, making work relevant to
solutions of community problems, and increasing public understanding of
planning activities.” And “we shall contribute time and effort to
groups lacking in adequate planning resources and to voluntary
professional activities." (Friday, September 24, 2010, 8:00am -
10:45am)
Mackinaw River Canoe Trip - No experience necessary! If you’ve
never been on the Mackinaw, you are missing something very special. It is
one of the state’s highest quality waterways and is very easy to navigate
even as a novice in a canoe. This will be the simplest way for you to
float the river – the canoes will be waiting for you at the launch point
and will be taken away at the end. No need to strap anything to your roof!
(Thursday, September 23, 2010, 7:00am - 11:30am)
Cheers! The Rise of Midwestern Wineries and Agricultural Tourism -
Lest this mobile sounds like all play, be assured that you will be
spending 2.5 hours with some of the state’s authorities on local food
systems. Immerse yourself in the history and culture of local food by
visiting a new cheese operation and an established winery. (Thursday,
September 23, 2010, 1:45pm - 5:00am)
After today, registration will only be available on-site at the conference. Registration will be open at the conference
each morning at 7:45 AM. however, we prefer to have early numbers
to help with food orders and planning.
If you have already registered, stay tuned to
www.ilapa.org for updates!
Do not miss this excellent opportunity to meet with your
peers and learn about planning trends in Illinois !
Don't delay, register for the Conference today!
