Charrette Volunteers Needed
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is assisting the Village of Carpentersville in creating an “Old Town Plan” for its downtown area.
The Village of Carpentersville's Old Town Area has many historic strengths and community assets that provide a high quality of life for its residents, shoppers, and employees. Strategically situated within Dundee Township in Kane County, the Village is approximately 35 miles northwest of the City of Chicago. The Village's Old Town Area has seen a tremendous amount of reinvestment primarily through existing businesses. Priorities set in the Village's comprehensive plan recommended vibrant, mixed-use development for the Old Town Area. Now, CMAP is helping Carpentersville draft a long-range plan that will guide the area's future growth and focus on implementation.
We are asking for volunteers to participate in a planning charrette that will be held in the Village of Carpentersville on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The interactive workshop is sure to be an exciting event that will involve professional planners, architects, Village officials, business leaders, students, and others.
Food and transportation from downtown Chicago will be provided, however space is limited. As of today’s date, we are planning on arranging for a bus to leave from the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) at 8 a.m. and to return at approximately 3:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by November 4th to Erin Aleman at 312-386-8816 or ealeman at cmap.illinois.gov.
