Don’t forget registration for the 2011 APA Upper Midwest Conference, being hosted by APA Iowa is now open. This year’s conference, themed, “MOTATE: Transportation and Mobility in a Green Era” will be held from Wednesday, October 19th thru Friday, October 21st at The RiverCenter, part of the Quad Cities Event Center
The conference registration packet is available at http://www.iowa-apa.org/events/conference-information.html, and includes the full conference schedule. Highlights of the 2011 APA Upper Midwest Conference include:
Ability to earn up to 16 AICP Certification Maintenance Credits (CM), including the required Law and Ethics credits
Online Conference Registration is available with the use of a credit card. Register by October 12, 2011 to get the best pricing. Online registrations must be received by October 12, 2011.
Hotel Reservations: APA Iowa has secured a block of deeply discounted rooms at the Radisson Quad City Plaza at a rate of $116.00 per night, rooms can be booked by calling the hotel at 563-322-2200. The conference rate is available my mentioning the APA Upper Midwest Conference. Online reservations are also accepted at the discounted rate. This beautiful facility is connected by climate controlled skywalk to the conference facility and is located in the heart of Downtown Davenport!
Orientation Tours of the Quad Cities area are being offered on Wednesday morning and afternoon, where attendees can learn about the many great qualities of the area through the eyes of local planners.
Student/Young Professional Sessions: New this year are a number of sessions geared towards students and young professionals, including a young professionals roundtable, an information session on planners interested in taking the AICP exam, a job search skills and strategy session and multiple resume clinics where students or young professionals can meet individually with veteran planners to review and discuss their resumes and cover letters.
Three Mobile Workshops are planned, including tours of the John Deere World Headquarters, the Rock Island Arsenal and the riverfront trails of the Quad Cities.
Keynote Speakers: We are pleased to announced two phenomenal keynote speakers on the agenda, Christopher Leinberger of Arcadia Land Company and the Bookings Institute on Thursday and Chad Pregracke of Living Lands and Waters on Friday.
