[ApaIllinois] 2012 Central Illinois Bike Summit (CM credit offered)

Hello!
 
Have you registered for the May 23 Bike Summit yet?  Did you know that the $25 early registration deadline is April 30?  After that, the price goes up to $35.  (And don’t forget about the discounted student rate of $15!)
 
Why should you attend?
1.       Up to 4.0 continuing education credits for professional planners.
2.       A great start to the day with informal “coffee discussions” from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m.  Each discussion will focus on the hot bike topics of the day, like the discussion on how to get bikes to those in need led by local bike repair/distribution guru Rick Heiser.  Rick and his amazing band of volunteers have fixed up dozens and dozens of abandoned and otherwise unloved bikes so that adults and children in need could have a free bike + helmet + lock!  Rick’s ready to tell you how to do this in your own community!
3.       Awesome speakers – For example, if you haven’t heard Andy Clarke from the League, you’re in for a real treat!  He’ll be bringing us stories from the national level, informed by the recent National Bike Summit in Washington D.C.
4.       Super fun social event at Medici, a hip Uptown Normal restaurant with great food and drink.  I’m going to set up an open mic for people to “seize” for random bike-related announcements.  You know you want to do that!
 
There’s also an informal bike ride being organized on May 23. Details TBA.
