The APA-IL Illinois State Section is pleased to host the Illinois State Section’s fall conference this year in Columbia, part of fast-growing Southwestern Illinois (known across the St. Louis region as the Metro East). The conference will take place on September 26 - 28, 2013 at The Falls Reception & Conference Center, and our intent is to involve members from throughout the Illinois Chapter.

This year's conference theme is "The Main Event: Keeping Your Main Street in the Spotlight". Since the earliest days of the nation, American Main Streets have been the center stage for community life, portraying what is best and most attractive about each city or village. This conference will explore ways that many Illinois communities are returning Main Street to center stage with the assistance of professional planners (and some talented amateurs) as directors.

This year there are two (2) tracks for RFPs: “Main Street” & “General Best Practices”. Slots are available for both topics in standard conference sessions and mobile tours. Deadline for session and mobile tour proposals for the 2013 Illinois State Section Conference is May 31. A copy of the notice, application form and criteria have been attached to this e-mail.
