APA-CMS 2013 Fall Conference
Friday, October 4, 2013 | 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

With the APA National Conference in our rearview mirror, let’s look forward to the APA-CMS 2013 Fall Conference here in Chicago!  Scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2013, at the DePaul Center in the Loop, APA-CMS will be holding a condensed one-day conference to provide Illinois planners and allied partners with professional development opportunities.  The conference will offer the following eight sessions (see attached PDF for general descriptions of each session):
 
1.       APA Law Explosion 2013!: Presenters will include Julie Tappendorf, Dan Bolin, and Greg Jones, with David Silverman of Ancel Glink to serve as moderator.  This session will be eligible for Law CM Credits.
2.       What Lawyers & Planners Wish Each Other Understood: A Look at How Law Guides Planning Practices: Presenters will include Kimberley Mickelson, Arista Strungys, and Mary Bak.  This session will be eligible for Ethics CM Credits.
3.       Coming Soon to Your Community: Housing for People With Disabilities: Presenters will include Daniel Lauber and Richard Koenig.
4.       Development Approval as Economic Development: Presenters will include Michael D’Onofrio, Peter Tremulis, and Michael Blue, with Michael Blue of Teska Associates, Inc. to also serve as moderator.
5.       Planning Data & Tools: Rightsizing Big Data, Using Free GIS Tools, and Measuring the State of Housing: Presenters will include Bridget Lane, Diane Williams, Spencer Gardner, and Jennifer Groce.
6.       Removing the Silos: Integrating Land Use and Transportation in Local Plans: Presenters will Paul Lippens, Mark de la Verge, and Lindsay Bayley, with Courtney Kashima of Farr Associates to serve as moderator.
7.       Plan Implementation through Zoning: Presenters will include Tony Manno and two municipal representatives (TBD at this time), with Leslie Oberholtzer of Farr Associates to serve as moderator.
8.       The Challenges of Urban Infill: Presenters will include Stephen Friedman and Richard Klawtier.
 
In addition to the eight sessions, there will be a keynote speaker, plenty of time to network, and an event to recognize recipients of the 2013 APA-IL Awards.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided with your registration fee.  A forthcoming eblast will include full session descriptions, presenter bios, and registration information.  CM Credits will be pursued for all sessions, including Law and Ethics credits for the first two sessions.
