Making Great
Communities Happen
in Illinois
August 1, 2014
Dear APA-IL Member:
Election time for the APA-IL Chapter Officer positions and the
Chapter Section positions is quickly approaching. According to the bylaws of
the Chapter, the Chapter members are to elect a President, Vice President,
Secretary and Treasurer for the APA-IL Chapter as well as positions for the
two Chapter Sections (Chicago Metro Section and Illinois State Section).
Terms run for two years and the next term of office will commence on January
1, 2015. Are you interested in running for a position? If so, you can submit
your name to the Nominating Committee for consideration to be placed on the
ballot. Or, you can ensure your name will appear on the ballot by submitting
your name along with a signed petition by 20 regular Chapter members in good
standing. The Nominating Committee will decide on a slate of candidates and
will release the slate to the membership in September. The election will be
in November. To learn more about the officer positions of the APA-IL and the
positions for each of the two Sections, you can visit www.ilapa.org.
The deadline to submit your name for consideration, or your name with the signed petition, is Friday, August 29, 2014 at 5:00pm. Please send it via email to Rob Kowalski, AICP at rob.kowalski at ci.champaign.il.us. and indicate the position you are interested in running for. Please use the same email if you have any questions about the process.
If you have been considering getting more involved with the Illinois
Chapter of the APA but not as an Officer on the Board, there are several
different committees you can consider joining. There are committees for
Public Relations, Pro Bono work, Legislative work, Diversity, Professional
Development and more. Consider getting involved. It’s a great way to make
professional contacts and give back to the profession locally! Send your
inquiry to the Chapter Administrator, John Paige, AICP at j.paige at comcast.net or speak to a Board member at the upcoming state conference, October 1st-3rd in Evanston. We hope to see you there.
Rob Kowalski, AICP
APA-IL Immediate Past President
Chair, Nominating Committee
