Legislative Committee Survey Results Are In!
In June, the APA-IL Legislative Committee surveyed the membership to
get a better understanding of Chapter’s "legislative knowledge". The
survey provided the Committee with a solid list of action items
ranging from providing legislative updates to membership to lobbying
efforts. The most important item identified is the need for
education & training programs that address the legislative process
and advocacy.

Legislative Update
With up-coming November elections for the state
House of Representatives, one-third of the state Senate, and all
state Executive Offices, very little new legislation, if any, will
be considered during the November Veto Session. However, the
Legislative Committee is tracking two bills that stalled in
committee to see whether they will be revived during
the January general legislative session. These two bills are:
* Sen. Pamela Althoff’s school zoning bill
* Sen. John Sullivan’s wind energy siting and regulations bill
In addition, we are also in the process of exploring other bills that warrant our attention that may gain traction in January. Please contact David Silverman, AICP, Legislative Committee Chair, at DSilverman at ancelglink.com with questions or comments regarding legislative activities.
