Registration Closes Nov 10 for 2009 World Town Planning Day Online Conference
Event Focuses on Resilience in a Changing Climate
(November 6, 2009) - For the first time ever, eight planning organizations have come together to support a joint "virtual" conference for planners from around the globe in honor of the 2009 celebration of World Town Planning Day. See the detailed conference program and how to register at www.PlanningTheWorld.net<http://www.planningtheworld.net/>.
Held Thursday, November 12 through Saturday, November 14, 2009 (a day later in some parts of the Eastern Hemisphere), the WTPD Online Conference will be conducted completely via the internet as part of efforts to reduce the carbon footprint resulting from presenter/participant travel. The conference theme is Resilience in a Changing Climate. Special guest plenary speakers on Thursday, November 12 are Mr. Naison Mutizwa-Mangiza / UN Habitat and Dr. Phil Hill / Natural Resources Canada, on the subject of The Role of Planning in Resilience to Climate Change.
Registration rates are based on World Bank income data for developing and developed nations. Rates range from a limited number of free tickets for individuals with annual incomes of $875 USD or less, to $85 USD for those whose annual income level is $10,725 USD or more.
Don't miss out! Registration closes on Tuesday, November 10th for this event.
Throughout the three days of the event, presenters from around the world will highlight their answer to the question, "Why my town or city - or the planning system I work in - will be resilient to climate change." Speakers will highlight key insights into how professional planners are thinking about - and practicing - planning around the globe in response to climate change. Registrants will also participate in virtual networking events and become part of the conference community, which includes access to conference recordings / slide presentations.
