Visit http://www.txplanning.org/listserv.htm in the coming
weeks to see TxAPA members' responses to the following
queries.
RFI #1
Does anyone have a good technique for controlling the size
and scale of front loaded garage doors? With so many new
builders designing for 3 car garages providing some
flexibility in the garage design is preferable to an
outright prohibition.
Andy Gillies, AICP
Planning Director
City of Farmers Branch
RFI #2
Are there any cities in Texas that have rezoned districts to
control for non-retail uses? Our city is looking into this
area to allow in certain districts sales tax generating
businesses only or allow non-sales tax generating businesses
by SUP only but with the condition that a certain percentage
of ground floor space be dedicated to retail sales.
Brian LaBorde, AICP
Director of Public Works
City of Shenandoah
RFI #3
San Marcos is reviewing the qualifications for individuals
to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission. In
particular, we are reviewing residency and property
ownership requirements for membership. Our department has
been asked to contact other communities regarding
requirements for individuals to have lived in the city
limits for a certain time period and/or own property in the
city limits. We are especially interested in cities that
have large rental populations and college towns.
Chance Sparks
Chief Planner
City of San Marcos
RFI #4
Do any cities have an adopted or proposed rough
proportionality ordinance and/or impact fee ordinance to
determine dedication of rights-of-way, and other public
infrastructure and costs?
Lori Levy
Planning and Development Manager
City of Carrollton
RFI #5
Are there any transit agencies in the state of Texas that
has explored the relationship between inclement weather and
ridership? If so, can you share your findings?
Amma B. Cobbinah
Service Evaluation Analyst II
Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County
RFI #6
The City of Galveston is looking at the land use
classification of self-service kiosks, such as ice, water,
propane vending stations. How have other communities
classified the land use?
Catherine Gorman Tinnemeyer
Senior Planner/Assistant HPO
City of Galveston
RFI #7
Since schools are an allowed use in just about every zoning
district does anyone regulate typical school activities
outside of academic classroom learning. i.e. football
fields, band practices, parking for high intensity
activities, lighting for night events (football mainly)?
Cameron Walker
City of Midland
