Rewrite of Zoning Ordinance

ABOUT THE CITY OF FALLS CHURCH
The City has a population of nearly 11,000 and is located approximately
five miles from Washington, D.C. It  is considered part of the larger
regional area in terms of its economy, land values, development
patterns, and regional transportation needs. The City is currently
experiencing high levels of redevelopment including both residential and
commercial growth on a mostly parcel-by-parcel basis. The City is
expected to continue to experience rapid and significant increases in
residential and commercial densities within the next five to ten years
including the comprehensive redevelopment of its City Center.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The appropriate zoning tools are not yet in place to fully manage new
development and redevelopment and the City's desired future character.
In addition, the City Zoning Ordinance is outdated and not user
friendly. Accordingly, the City is soliciting proposals from qualified
consulting firms to provide Consulting Services to rewrite the City's
Zoning Ordinance. This work must proceed on a rapid time frame.
