Transportation Security Study for the 2008 RTP
Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG)
Submittal Deadline: January 11, 2007

RFP Number: 07-068

ABOUT SCAG
Over the past four decades, the Southern California Association of
Governments (SCAG) has evolved as the largest of nearly 700 councils of
government in the United States, functioning as the Metropolitan
Planning Organization (MPO) for six counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San
Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura and Imperial.

As the designated MPO, SCAG is mandated by the federal government to
research and put together plans for transportation, growth management,
hazardous waste management, and air quality.

SCAG relies heavily on outside consultants and vendors to help
accomplish the overall mission and objectives of SCAG. We are always
striving to increase the breadth and depth of talent in our pool of
potential consultants and vendors, and are especially interested in
bringing more certified DBEs into the database.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
SCAG is now examining proactive strategies, in terms of transportation
security, rather than reactive strategies. However, many security
strategies are operational in nature and are likely outside of SCAG's
purview. On the other hand, there may be areas of commonality where
SCAG, in its role as a transportation planning agency, can provide
benefit, and enhance the effectiveness of those agencies responsible for
security preparedness and emergency responses.
