Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan
City of Georgetown, Texas
Submittal deadline: August 31, 2007
The City of Georgetown is initiating a process to select and hire a
consultant to complete the Housing element of the Comprehensive Plan.
Located approximately 25 miles north of Austin, Georgetown continues to
be a growing city, both in area and population. The City is currently
undergoing an update on the Comprehensive Plan. The Housing element will
provide the foundation for decisions on affordable housing programs and
incentives. Public involvement and opinion on the current and future
state of affordable housing in Georgetown are paramount in the formation
of the Housing plan.
A response to this RFQ shall include your firm's proposed methodology
and approach, including a timeline, for creating the Housing element of
the Comprehensive Plan. The City of Georgetown is looking forward to a
planning approach that will:
* Be innovative and unique to Georgetown, continuing the tradition
of the Century Plan;
* Create a process that is practicable to implement when making
housing decisions;
* Include demographic and market analysis to establish housing
needs;
* Result in decisions that are consistent with best practices for
affordable housing;
* Include local, state, and federal programs that are available
and consistent with the housing needs;
* Provide for the optimum public involvement in the planning
process;
* Include analysis and public participation that can be used in
the near future to prepare the city's HUD Consolidated Plan.
The complete RFQ can be accessed here:
www.georgetown.org/gis/plds/HousingElementRFQ.pdf.
Any questions can be directed to Jennifer Bills, Housing Coordinator at
