Request for Proposals - Consultant Services
Comprehensive Plan
The City of Hazelwood, Missouri
Submittal Deadline: April 2, 2007
The City of Hazelwood, Missouri is seeking proposals from qualified
planning consultants for service in development of a Comprehensive Plan.
The last plan was adopted in 1998 and needs to be updated and several
sub area studies added to formulate a plan for economic development and
enhancements of the City.
The Hazelwood 2008 comprehensive plan project encompasses many
aspirations and dimensions, but its main goal is to design a framework
for action that will serve as a dynamic and living plan for our City.
The Plan will provide the basis for decision-making as and when
implemented. The plan will also serve as a written guide to manage
public policies, plans, programs, actions, and public and private
investments for years to come.
Specifically, the intent of Hazelwood 2008 comprehensive plan includes
identifying and analyzing opportunities and challenges facing Hazelwood,
and setting specific goals and objectives, which reflect the ideals of
the community as a whole. The plan will explore and assess options open
to Hazelwood in the pursuit of its goals. The plan will not only update
the elements of the Hazelwood 1998 Comprehensive Plan but add sub area
elements which will include, but not be limited to, redevelopment of the
closed Ford Plant property, steps to take to encourage a new interchange
at Lindbergh Blvd. and I-270, redevelopment plan and new bridge plan for
extension of Byassee across Coldwater Creek into Berkeley, proposed
streetscape project like the Lindbergh Corridor Enhancement Project to
Hanley Road, Howdershell Road and possibly other corridors, steps to
take to encourage the development of a 500 year levee west of the St.
Louis Mills Mall and a development plan for bottomland that is just
within the 100 year floodplain along Aubuchon Road. The goal of this
planning process is to create a feasible, long-term plan based on the
community's view of what Hazelwood has become and in what direction
Hazelwood is moving.
