The AICP Commission requests that entities soliciting planning
consultants follow a two-part RFQ/RFP selection procedure.

Request for Qualifications - Consultant Services
Feasibility Study / Planning Improvements Over I-670
The City of Kansas City, Missouri
Submittal Deadline: February 7, 2007
Kansas City, Missouri is experiencing tremendous reinvestment in the
urban core. In the past five years, projects totaling an excess of $4
billion has transformed the aging urban core into a sports and
entertainment destination. To further Kansas City's downtown
renaissance, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, the Missouri Department
of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are joining
forces examine the potential of creating an enhanced environment across
I-670 and Truman Road.
The City Planning and Development Department of Kansas City, Missouri in
cooperation with the Missouri Department of Transportation and the
Federal Highway Administration is requesting qualifications from
multi-disciplinary consultant teams interested in completing a
feasibility study of decking (capping) a seven block area over I-670.
The feasibility study will examine existing conditions, potential
designs, market impacts, potential future land uses, and costs of
transforming the current I-670 depressed freeway into a unifying element
of downtown Kansas City. The results of this study will outline the
course of implementation including technical design, operations and
maintenance, funding mechanisms, phasing, timeframes, and costs.
