Unified Development Ordinance
The Town of Carolina Beach, North Carolina 
Submittal Deadline: March 19, 2007

The Town of Carolina Beach is requesting proposals from qualified
consultants to update the Town's development ordinances in order to
create a Unified Development Ordinance. The purpose of this update is to
accomplish the following:

Project Description
The Town of Carolina Beach currently utilizes separate ordinances and
plans to regulate development. These include: 

a Zoning Ordinance (adopted 2000), Hazard Mitigation Plan (adopted
2006), Subdivision Ordinance (adopted 1977 ), Flood Damage Prevention
Ordinance (adopted 2006), Water Ordinance(adopted 1977), Sewer Use
Ordinance(adopted 1999), Building & Building Regulation
Ordinance(adopted 1977), Water Use and Harbor Management Plan(to be
adopted 2007), Stormwater Management Ordinance(adopted 2002) and Streets
& Sidewalks Ordinance(adopted, 1977). 

The Town seeks the objective of the review, updating and compilation of
all current development ordinances and plans into a Unified Development
Ordinance(UDO). This UDO will incorporate these adopted ordinances and
plans while also providing their relevant updating based on currently
accepted development practices for municipalities, state and federal
statutory requirements and the development needs of the Town.

Proposals should be submitted to the Town no later than March 19, 2007
at 5:00 pm.
