Request for Qualifications - Consultant Services
Peer Review Applicant Prepared ADEIR
The City of Eureka, California
Submittal Deadline: July 13, 2007
The City of Eureka is requesting qualifications and proposals for peer
review of the applicant prepared Boys and Girls Club Administrative
Draft EIR. The ADEIR is being prepared by Planwest Partners Inc, Arcata,
CA. The Boys and Girls Club is requesting approval from the City of
Eureka of a conditional use permit to authorize the destruction and
salvage of the existing building, and the construction of a new
approximately 32,670 square foot two-story Boys and Girls Club facility.
The existing building has been determined to be historically
significant; therefore, its destruction requires the preparation of an
EIR.
The project would result in the demolition of the existing building.
The EIR includes an analysis of the effects of the proposed demolition,
which includes the disturbance to potential historical resources, if the
building qualifies for the label "modern," and if Robert Usher's
influence on the current building design was significant. The potential
impacts associated with demolition are identified and determination was
made about the impacts significance. A Cultural Resources Report
prepared by TBA West, a Historical Resources Architectural firm, is the
basis of the analysis. Also included is an analysis of the potential
disturbances to known cultural and unknown archeological resources and
determines the potential significance of these impacts.
