Request for Qualifications - Consultant Services
Master Planning Services
Holy Cross School, New Orleans, Louisiana
Submittal Deadline: July 11, 2007
PURPOSE OF REQUEST
The Holy Cross School in New Orleans was severely damaged by the winds and floodwaters of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. The School, which has operated at its historic location since 1859, elected to relocate to a new site in October 2006. The School is interested in redeveloping its historic campus on the banks of the Mississippi River in the Holy Cross Neighborhood, which is part of New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. The School is soliciting statements of qualifications from master planning firms in connection with providing professional services for the redevelopment of approximately 16 acres on the School's original site at 4950 Dauphine St., New Orleans, Louisiana.
HOLY CROSS SCHOOL INFORMATION
Information on the Holy Cross School is available at: www.holycrosstigers.com <http://www.holycrosstigers.com/> . That site also has a link to a longer, more detailed version of this Request for Qualifications - including a site map of the campus and a neighborhood map showing off-campus holdings by the school. We encourage bidders to read the "Goals and Objectives" statement adopted by the school's board of directors, which is contained in that longer version of the RFQ.
SITE AND FACILITIES INFORMATION AND CONDITION
The Holy Cross School has a campus of approximately 16 acres with major frontage on the Mississippi River, located 3 miles downriver from the Vieux Carré, or French Quarter, in New Orleans. The campus includes 7 buildings and a number of mature live oaks, several of which are more than 100 years old. The school also owns 10 additional lots and/or buildings on squares immediately adjoining its historic campus. Two of these additional lots extend the school's riverfront footage. The school's administration building dates from 1895 and has national historic significance.

ATTRIBUTES SOUGHT IN A MASTER PLANNER & PARTNER
Our planner/partner must understand and appreciate the uniqueness of New Orleans, its culture, its neighborhoods and the history and mission of Holy Cross - and be able to incorporate them into the master planning vision and process.
Our planner/partner must review the Unified New Orleans Plan (UNOP) as well as other Lower Ninth Ward community plans as they continue evolving to assure that the redevelopment of Holy Cross comports with those plans as they are implemented. This includes creating a Public Involvement Plan to encourage input from the Holy Cross and Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood associations.
Our planner/partner must be able to demonstrate an ability to deliver a redevelopment plan that is realistic, "bankable," compatible with the Holy Cross mission, and feasible within an aggressive timeframe.
PROJECT BUDGET AND FEES
To be negotiated with the selected firm.
