Sector Plan Development
The Prince George's County Planning Department, Takoma Park, Maryland
Submittal Deadline: April 4, 2007
The Prince George's County Planning Department and Montgomery County
Planning Department of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning
Commission (M-NCPPC), in conjunction with the City of Takoma Park,
Maryland, are seeking the services of a multi-disciplinary consultant or
consultant team to assist with the development of a sector plan for the
Takoma Park/Langley Park Crossroads area (hereafter Takoma/Langley
Crossroads).
The consultant will work with a project team consisting of planning
staff from three jurisdictions and consultant staff on preparing a
comprehensive plan and implementation strategy for the planning area
with an emphasis on achieving transit-oriented development (TOD). The
planning area is the land area within approximately one-half mile of the
intersection of University Boulevard (MD 193) and New Hampshire (MD
650). The planning area is designated a "Community Center" by the 2002
Prince George's County Approved General Plan and is one of the proposed
sites for a future light rail or bus rapid transit station along the
Purple Line (also known as the BI-County Transitway) that will link
Bethesda and New Carrollton.
A variety of professional services are needed but the primary services
required for this unique joint sector planning process are outreach and
public engagement, economic development planning and community planning.
A Pre-proposal Conference is scheduled for March 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
The meeting will be held at the Commission's Lakeside Offices, located
at 14422 Old Mill Road, Upper Marlboro, MD, in the Jane Jacobs
Conference Room.
