Design Guidelines and Sign Regulations
The Village of Oak Park, Illinois 
Submittal Deadline: April 30, 2007

RFP # CPD-07-01

The Village of Oak Park is seeking a consultant to help create design
guidelines and sign regulations for future development. The guidelines
will be for both new construction and exterior renovation of existing
buildings within the Village's commercial and business districts as well
as larger multiple-family residential buildings of more than four units.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued Thursday, March 29. The
deadline for responses is 5 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2007.

An innovative and creative consultant or team is being sought to write
design guidelines that would incorporate progressive architectural and
site design standards, including sustainable green development
requirements where appropriate. The guidelines also should emphasize
community culture and historic heritage, as well as compatible sign
regulations for commercial development.

The successful respondent will facilitate planning workshops, public
forums, stakeholder interviews and focus groups. The consultant also is
expected to use group process techniques, such as electronic keypad
polling, to generate a consensus on community values and development
preferences among residents and businesses operators.
