Subdivision Ordinance Rewrite
The Fairbanks North Star Borough
Submittal Deadline: October 30, 2007

The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) Department of Community Planning
is soliciting proposals to rewrite the Borough's subdivision ordinance.

The work will include coordinating with a citizen advisory group and
interfacing with Borough platting staff throughout the process to do a
complete rewrite of the subdivision ordinance. The proposed ordinance
shall reflect the goals and objectives of the Fairbanks North Star
Borough Comprehensive Plan and shall address the safe and orderly
subdivision of property in the Borough while taking into account
wetlands, permafrost and other constraints to development. The new
ordinance must reflect recent best practices employed in other
communities throughout the United States and must be written to conform
to state and federal laws.

The consultant will facilitate two to three public meetings to gather
input from the community and special interest groups. Once an initial
draft has been completed the consultant will hold one additional public
meeting before preparing the final draft ordinance.

The final goal of this project is to present a proposed subdivision
ordinance to the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly for adoption.
