Request for Qualifications - Consultant Services

Site Planning, Architectural and Cost Estimating Services
Community Development Authority, Madison, Wisconsin
Submittal Deadline: October 17, 2007

No RFQ7877-0-2007/MO

The project involves the development and preparation of site planning,
architectural, and cost estimating services for the design and
construction of new buildings on a City-owned approximately nine-acre
site on Allied Drive. The City purchased this site in 2006 for the
purpose of improving housing opportunities in the neighborhood. Other
property the City owns in the vicinity is also a part of this RFQ.

A community dialogue regarding the future of this site has been ongoing
for over a year. This has included the Allied Area Task Force, the
neighborhood, City staff, the American Institute of Architects, and
others in exploring conceptual design approaches, which resulted in a
set of criteria for future development and three possible approaches to
site development. Upon further study and analysis, another concept plan
has evolved to serve as the conceptual basis for this project. The
expectation includes approximately 40-45 rental units on the northern
third of the site and approximately 60-65 predominantly owner-occupied
and rental units on the southern two-thirds.
The scope of this contract will include making presentations and
engaging in dialogue with a variety of community groups, City staff,
boards, and commissions. Review all pre-design information and space
programs already provided by the City and user groups to prepare
programming information. The site planning and design approach that
results from this contract will be used in the redevelopment of the
parcel.

For further information and to obtain a copy of the RFQ, please contact
Mark A. Olinger, Director, Department of Planning & Community & Economic
Development, City of Madison, 608-266-4635, molinger at cityofmadison.com

Submittal Deadline: October 17, 2007, 2:00 p.m. CDST.
