professional planning and design services for the Steinwehr Avenue

marked "Proposal Enclosed."

The Steinwehr Avenue Revitalization and Strategic Plan
Preparation of this plan is a joint project among Main Street
Gettysburg, The Steinwehr Avenue Business Alliance and The Borough of
Gettysburg. The purpose of this planning project is to clearly identify
a 5-year course of action for the revitalization of Steinwehr Avenue in
historic Gettysburg, PA due to the many improvements that are occurring
throughout the community, including the new National Park Service
Visitor Center, Gateway Gettysburg and the Wills House that threaten to
move traffic flow away from Steinwehr Avenue. Steinwehr Avenue has been
a tourist destination for the last fifty years and it has aged and is in
need of upgrading. It also needs to attract a varied business mix as
well.

Study Area
The study area encompasses Steinwehr Avenue from its intersection with
Baltimore Street south to Pickett's Field on the grounds of the
Battlefield. It is critical that the plan also include linkage to the
Washington Street corridor and the nearby Gettysburg Hospital
development.

Project Funding
The cost of this project is not to exceed $147,500. A more detailed RFP,
including specific scope and selection information, is available by
contacting Robin Fitzpatrick, at 717-334-0042 or rfitzpatrick at acedc.org
<mailto:rfitzpatrick at acedc.org> no later than 4:00 PM, Wednesday, April
30, 2008. Questions submitted after that time may not be answered prior
to the qualification packages due date.
