Newburgh Area Transportation & Land Use Study
Orange County, New York
Submittal Deadline: May 8, 2008
The Orange County Planning Department, on behalf of the Orange County
Transportation Council, seeks to engage a qualified consulting firm or
team of firms to carry out a comprehensive multi-modal Newburgh Area
Transportation and Land Use Study. This project will encompass a primary
study area which includes the City of Newburgh, the four nearby Towns of
Newburgh, New Windsor, Cornwall, and Montgomery and the villages within
those towns (Walden, Montgomery, Maybrook, and Cornwall-on-Hudson).
Contiguous municipalities within and outside Orange County may as a
matter of course also be included in analyses, especially where
connectivity or effects relate to transportation systems and development
within the primary study area.
In addition to a comprehensive analysis and plan for the principal study
area, the planning process will also include more detailed examinations
of a number of corridors, major transportation nodes and short term
transit improvements. The geographic corridors and areas which require
additional/detailed study include: US Route 9W; Broadway / NY Route 17K;
sections of NY Routes 300, 207, 52 and 32; and the Vails Gate area. An
18 to 24 month work schedule is anticipated. Early action elements must
be completed and implementation actions begun in a shorter time frame.
Preference will be given to the firm or team of firms which can organize
and dedicate resources to this effort in a manner which will result in
completion of scope elements in the most timely and strategically
effective manner.
Please see the detailed 19-page Request for Qualifications for more
information regarding the study, necessary qualifications, and how to
submit responses. RFQ posted at: www.orangecountygov.com/planning/octc
