Deadwood Pedestrian Circulation and Enhancement Study
South Dakota Department of Transportation, Pierre, South Dakota
Submittal Deadline: February 1, 2008

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in conjunction
with the City of Deadwood and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA),
is soliciting proposals from consulting engineering and/or planning
firms to prepare a study of pedestrian circulation and pedestrian
friendly enhancements within the City of Deadwood, South Dakota.

Study Expectations
The Study Advisory Team is interested in conducting a study focusing on:


*	Pedestrian and vehicular circulation 
*	Enhancements for pedestrian mobility & safety 
*	Identification of areas not in compliance with the American with
Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504. 
*	Traffic Control for pedestrian mobility & safety 
*	Transit (Deadwood Trolley) that promotes safe pedestrian
movements 
*	Parking (public & private) that promotes safe pedestrian
movements 

 With the tourist based economy of Deadwood, the study needs to address
pedestrian activities during non-tourist season, tourist season, &
special events.

The study is expected to fulfill the following objectives:

*	Develop an implementation strategy that will assess existing and
future pedestrian demand and needs. 
*	Identify locations in the study area that are not in compliance
with ADA and Section 504. 
*	Establish performance standards, evaluate alternatives, and
refine existing or recommend new pedestrian services in the study area. 
*	Prepare a plan for coordinating pedestrian investments to
achieve a system which is integrated with local, state, and federal
plans and regulations. 
*	Create a final product for use by city and state agencies which
addresses policy and operational issues affecting the implementation of
recommended pedestrian improvements. 

The SDDOT invites you and your associates to examine the full RFP and
submit a proposal if the RFP matches your areas of interest and

Proposals must be received no later than 5:00 pm on February 1, 2008.
The deadline is firm.  Extensions will not be granted. The consultant
must submit twelve (12) copies of their proposal to this RFP.
