Request for Proposals - Consultant Services

Unified Development Code
The City of Hutto, Texas
Submittal Deadline: January 25, 2008

The City of Hutto, Texas, is seeking a qualified consultant to create a
Unified Development Code. The City, with a population of nearly 16,000
is located in Williamson County, Texas, and is considered part of the
larger Austin metropolitan area in terms of its economy, land values,
development patterns, and regional transportation needs.

The City is expected to continue to experience increases in commercial
activity and residential populations within the next five years
including three large mixed use planned unit developments. The
appropriate tools are not yet in place to fully manage all new
development in a manner consistent with the City's desired future
character, derived from the Growth Guidance Plan. In addition, the
City's Zoning & Subdivision and other Development Ordinances need to be
combined and updated to fit the community's goals. Accordingly, the
City is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to create a
Unified Development Code with the aims of amending existing regulations
to clear up inconsistencies within the ordinances, implementing higher
building and architectural standards, establishing different nodes
throughout the City for certain use and form standards, and improving
the integration of land uses.
