Comprehensive Plan and Coordinated Public Involvement Effort
The Village of Downers Grove, Illinois
Submittal Deadline: March 31, 2008

The Village of Downers Grove, Illinois, will initiate the creation of a
Comprehensive Plan. Downers Grove is a mature suburb located
approximately 25 miles west from the City of Chicago. It has direct
access to two major expressways, Interstates 88 and 355. It has a
population of approximately 50,000 persons and a daytime population of
110,000 persons. For the last several decades, the Village has seen
substantial redevelopment of its residential and downtown areas. The
Comprehensive Plan will address continued redevelopment of the
community, including key commercial corridors. It will rely heavily on
the results of a comprehensive community outreach effort beginning in a
couple months, requiring the consultant to work creatively with Village
officials and other Village consultants to gather useful information to
guide the plan's development. Several recently completed and ongoing
studies will be made part of the plan, including watershed plans, a
strategic plan, and a downtown pattern book. Interested consultants are
strongly recommended to attend an informational meeting to be held March
19, 11:00AM at the Village Hall.
