James Street Area Action Plan
The City of Kannapolis, North Carolina
Submittal Deadline: May 30, 2008
The City of Kannapolis is issuing a Request for Proposals for consulting
services to develop an action plan for our James Street Area
neighborhood. This is an area that is near the North Carolina Research
Campus, but lacks the social and physical infrastructure to be able to
benefit from the expected economic growth. The City aims to connect
residents of this area with jobs and other economic opportunities
through strategies that include addressing underlying socioeconomic
issues, providing assistance with housing, transportation, and other
physical infrastructure needs, and developing education, workforce
development, and small business development strategies specific to the
neighborhood.
The RFP seeks consultants with expertise in community development and/or
physical planning and design to assist with two aspects of this James
Street Area Action Plan project: 1) providing facilitation services and
community development expertise to develop a needs assessment and action
plan, and 2) conducting a neighborhood charrette to examine and define
the physical planning and urban design projects recommended in the
action plan. Please refer to the attached RFP for details and the
attached map for a location of the neighborhood.
We invite you to respond to this RFP, or ask you to pass it along to
qualified consultants. The deadline for submission is 12:00pm, May 30,
2008.
