Downtown Redevelopment
Community Development & Real Estate Services Department, Bryan, Texas
Submittal Deadline: June 20, 2008
The Community Development & Real Estate Services Department, acting on
behalf of the City of Bryan, Texas is seeking proposals for the
development of 7 assembled, downtown city blocks near its fiber nucleus.
The south end of downtown has been revitalized and this north end stands
ready for continued re/development.
Bryan has entered into a strategic partnership with Texas A&M University
System to develop 200 acres for a single campus Health Science Center,
which has scheduled $128 million in capital improvements and estimates a
$1 Billion economic impact in 2010. Downtown, in addition to phased
development, is constructing a 63,000 s.f. Justice Center Complex. Also,
the city boasts a first in county annual RED's Festival (red wine, and
steak festival).
The CD&RES Department is seeking the most qualified proposal that can
create a unique downtown community that blends mixed uses with
sustainability, and enhances the quality of life throughout the area.
Requests for qualifications are available from the Community Development
& Real Estate Services Department, 979-209-5175. A copy is also
available online at http://www.bryantx.gov/downtown_revitalization.
The CD&RES Department will conduct informational meetings and site
visits on June 3-4, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers,
located 300 South Texas Avenue. Attendance is recommended, but not
mandatory. Qualifications must be submitted to CD&RES. no later than
June 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.
