[Fellows] Fellows of AICP Request

If anyone is interested in reaching out to the schools, particularly 4th
through 8th grade, there are some very good programs available. If the
next generation learns more about planning when they're young, perhaps
they'll be more likely to support planning when they are adults.

Thanks for the ideas and communication, David. We are trying something
similar among the Texas Fellows (those of us who are still maintaining
an active profile). We divided the planning schools amongst us and are
reaching out to the PSO's and faculty, to encourage more interaction
with the chapter. After a couple of years, the results are mixed, but
generally better than before. Attendance by Texas students at chapter
and national conferences is up, and the faculty has welcomed our
interest and support. We are coordinating the efforts with the Chapter
Board of Directors.
Looking forward to meeting in Philadelphia.

Greetings Fellow Fellows!
I'm sorry that I will not be able to join you in Philadelphia. However,
I have a question that I would like to encourage you to discuss at the
meeting (informally) or via this list serve (Lynn's message reminded me
that this list serve existed, so I thought I would try to put it to
use!).
The Wisconsin FAICP contingent (all three of us!) have been
contemplating what, if anything, we, as Fellows, might do at the Chapter
(or District) level to contribute to the profession. For example,
perhaps we should initiate and lead some sort of community education
effort, or maybe sponsor a planning symposium, etc.
We thought it would be useful to use this list serve to try to tap into
your collective wisdom and brainpower and see if any of you are
undertaking these sorts of activities (again, focused at the Chapter or
District level). If you have any ideas, please respond to me (or reply
to the entire list).
Best regards,
David S. Boyd, FAICP
Madison, Wisconsin
