Hey All-
Lindsey has really good questions so take a look below at the responses
I have given below. Some of these will need to be supplemented by Susan
and I will be speaking with her in the next day or so.
Anything else, let me know!

Hello! Hope this finds everyone enjoying their summer. Thanks, Morgan,
for saying hello. I wanted to check in and say hello back, but I also
had
some some questions/thoughts (see below).
The international connections sound great - MIT organized a get-together
with a group from McGill's planning program who were visiting Boston
this
spring and it was great to be able to talk planning with students from
another country.
Best. - Lindsey
PS I am assuming everyone is on this list serve.
1) This is a bit belated, but did I miss the reviewing of the Award
Draft
Proposal?
Susan is still preparing a draft of the proposal based on some initial
conversations and will have that available to us soon.
1) Can we use the regional list-serves to introduce ourselves to
all the
Chapter Presidents, etc.? e.g ., Region1 at list.planning.org (see
http://www.planning.org/leadership/general/listserveaddress.html
)
You can definitely use this listserv to reach all these members,
depending on the content or goal of the email, you may find it more
beneficial to send individual emails to the chapter presidents.
Especially if there are particular states where there are inactive PSOs.
SBT: The regional listservs have not been updated for this year. Give me
a head's up if you're going to use yours and I'll put the most current
information on it.
2) I don't know how updated the list is, but I think it would
be great to
send out an email from the SRC Exec Committee to all student
reps
(SRC_StuReps at list.planning.org) in late Aug/early Sept to
introduce
ourselves, highlight some of the events in the upcoming year,
and welcome
comments/ideas/questions.
Great idea!! The best time to do this may be after the Free Student
memberships are registered, that way we have the most recent list. I
that deadline is sometime in the end of August.
SBT: A reminder that the 2007/08 form is available online. As some PSOs
elect their new officers in different months, we will continue to
include the current Student Rep until we're notified they have been
replaced.
3) The New Planner - is there an update on this? I know some
schools
might just be more involved than mine, but I don't even quite
understand
how submittals are made, etc., and from the website I get the
impression
that the journal was on a 1-year hiatus. Should I email the new
editor,
Natalie Macris? http://www.planning.org/thenewplanner/
<http://www.planning.org/thenewplanner/>
Susan and Natalie have been talking about the structure of the next
issues of the newsletter and are hoping to get an issue out in the Fall.
Any questions you have about this, I would send to Susan. She will be
able to answer anything you need info on.
SBT: The call for articles, etc. will be out in the next issue
of interact. The first issue is due late October.
4) Outstanding student nomination - what is this?
http://www.planning.org/students/outstandingstudentnomination.htm
This is an award given out every year at the national conference during
the award ceremony, however, I am a little confused about the dates that
are on there. I will email Denny and get some more details for this
award.
SBT: The Outstanding Student Awards are chosen and presented by
PAB-accredited schools at their own awards ceremonies.
5) What is the Young Planners Group? (see
http://www.planning.org/leadership/committees/youngplanners.htm)
I believe that this group is fairly new this year. They will be looking
at the services offered to Young Planners and what services could
benefit this group of professionals. The committee is comprised of young
planners that are from age 21 to 30 I believe. Reyna Alorro is on the
committee and was the Reg 6 Rep last year her email is
reynashine at yahoo.com if you would like to email her
6) DC this fall: I have been checking the leadership website, so
am
guessing there are no more updates other than what is there, but
should we
start making plans soon?
http://www.planning.org/policyconference/
The information on the website is the most recent, you may want to start
looking at times when you can travel. I or Susan will send out an email
soon regarding the details of that trip.
